Uttam Nagar has a lot of homeopathy clinics. Walk down any main road from the metro and you'll pass several. What most of them share: 5–10 minute consultations, a standard set of 10–15 bottles on the shelf, and a prescription that looks very similar regardless of what you came in for.

That is not homeopathy. That is dispensing.

Constitutional homeopathy (the system Hahnemann developed, still practiced properly by a small fraction of practitioners) requires a 60–90 minute first consultation, a complete understanding of your symptom picture across physical, mental, and emotional dimensions, and individualized remedy selection. Done right, it's one of the most effective treatments for chronic conditions. Done badly, it's expensive and pointless.

What to look for before you book.

What a BHMS Qualification Actually Means

BHMS stands for Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery. In India, it's a 5.5-year undergraduate degree followed by a mandatory one-year internship and registration with the state medical council. Any practicing homeopathic doctor in Delhi should hold a BHMS and be registered with the Delhi Homeopathic Medical Council.

The problem: the BHMS curriculum varies enormously between colleges. Some produce practitioners who understand constitutional case-taking. Others teach mostly pattern-matching: "this symptom cluster gets this remedy." The degree alone doesn't tell you which kind of training you're getting.

Beyond the BHMS, additional indicators of quality training include post-graduate qualifications (MD Homeopathy or recognized clinical diplomas), experience specifically in the condition you're seeking treatment for, and a consultation format that reflects the actual complexity of the work.

For serious chronic conditions like PCOS, thyroid disorders, eczema, or autoimmune disease, a 5-minute consultation is simply incompatible with good homeopathic prescribing. The time required to take a proper case history, understand the modalities of each symptom, and individualize a remedy cannot be compressed into five minutes. If a clinic can see you that quickly, they're working from a protocol, not a case.

Questions Worth Asking Before Your First Visit

"How long is the first consultation?" For a chronic condition, anything under 30 minutes is a red flag. A proper constitutional intake for conditions like PCOS, eczema, or anxiety needs 45–90 minutes. The practitioner needs to understand not just what your symptoms are, but their specific character: what makes them better or worse, what time of day they peak, how they relate to your emotions, sleep, and energy.

"What is your prescribing approach?" A useful answer describes individualized remedy selection and regular follow-ups to track response. A concerning answer is a fixed protocol: "We have a standard treatment for thyroid" or "We give everyone with this condition this combination." Homeopathy doesn't work that way. Two patients with identical diagnoses can need completely different remedies.

"Do you use single remedies or combinations?" Classical homeopathy uses single remedies. Combination remedies (multiple ingredients in one bottle) are easier to prescribe and more convenient for the practitioner, but they don't follow the individualized approach that makes homeopathy effective. Both exist. Knowing which you're getting helps set realistic expectations.

"What is your follow-up schedule?" Chronic conditions need follow-up every 4–6 weeks initially to assess response and adjust potency or remedy. A clinic without a structured follow-up system is treating you like an acute patient even when you have a chronic condition.

Why Proximity Matters More Than People Think

If you live or work in Uttam Nagar, Janakpuri, Dwarka, Vikaspuri, or Tilak Nagar, seeing a doctor in West Delhi removes a friction that's easy to underestimate.

Homeopathy for chronic conditions is not a one-visit fix. You'll be coming back every 4–6 weeks for 6–18 months depending on your condition. A clinic that's 90 minutes away creates real barriers to consistent treatment. Missed appointments break treatment continuity, and continuity is how homeopathy works.

There's also something less obvious: a doctor who practices in your area understands your environmental context. West Delhi has specific air quality patterns, water issues, dietary habits, and occupational stress that differ from other parts of the city. I see dozens of patients from the same neighborhoods and develop a working knowledge of these patterns over time. That context informs prescribing.

Things That Typically Go Wrong

Choosing based on price alone. A β‚Ή100 consultation for a complex chronic condition means the economics don't allow for anything beyond a 5-minute appointment. Taking a proper case history, individualizing a remedy, and tracking response takes real time, which has a cost. For initial consultation of a chronic condition, β‚Ή500–₹1,500 is a reasonable range in Delhi. A fee that seems impossibly low should make you curious about what you're actually getting.

Switching practitioners every few months. Constitutional homeopathy works through systematic treatment: establishing which remedy matches your constitution, tracking how you respond, adjusting over time. Switching doctors resets this process entirely because each new practitioner has to re-learn your case from scratch. If treatment isn't progressing, the right move is an honest conversation with your current doctor, not immediately finding someone new.

Expecting weekly results from years-old conditions. Eczema that's been there for 8 years doesn't resolve in 2 weeks of homeopathic treatment. The timeline for most chronic conditions: gradual improvement over 6–12 months of consistent treatment. Practitioners who promise rapid results for complex chronic conditions are overpromising. Some do it knowing patients want to hear it; it rarely ends well.

Expecting only bottles. Good homeopathic treatment is not just about the remedy. Sleep, diet, exercise, and stress management are part of the treatment picture. A practitioner who only prescribes and never asks about these factors is leaving significant tools unused.

What We Treat at Our Clinic

At Dr. Negi Clinic in Uttam Nagar, the most common conditions we treat homeopathically:

PCOS and hormonal conditions. Irregular periods, hormonal acne, weight changes, fertility concerns. West Delhi has a high prevalence of PCOS among working women in the 22–38 age range, and constitutional homeopathy has good outcomes when treatment is consistent over 9–18 months.

Skin and hair conditions. Eczema, psoriasis, chronic urticaria, alopecia. These are often constitutional in nature β€” the underlying susceptibility responds to the correctly matched remedy, reducing frequency and severity of flares rather than just suppressing the current one.

Chronic respiratory conditions. Recurrent sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, mild asthma, post-COVID respiratory issues. Many patients who've relied on antihistamines for years find they can significantly reduce medication use with proper homeopathic treatment over 12–18 months. Not guaranteed, but a realistic expectation for a meaningful subset of patients.

Stress-related conditions. Anxiety, insomnia, IBS, hypertension in younger patients. Homeopathy addresses the physical-mental interface directly. These are often the cases where the mental symptom picture (what stresses you, how you respond to pressure, how you sleep) is as important as the physical symptoms.

For conditions involving both internal health and external appearance (PCOS with skin involvement, alopecia, eczema with scarring), I combine homeopathic treatment with aesthetic interventions under one roof. It's less common, and it tends to produce better overall outcomes than managing each separately with different practitioners.

About This Practice

I qualified with a BHMS from Bach Homeopathic Medical College and followed it with a Post Graduate Diploma in Facial Aesthetics and Clinical Cosmetology. I've been seeing patients in Uttam Nagar since 2011.

The dual qualification was deliberate. A lot of my patients have chronic skin and hair conditions where the best outcomes come from treating both internally and externally. Homeopathy for the root cause, aesthetic medicine for faster external improvement. Having both means I don't refer you elsewhere for the second part of your treatment.

First consultations for chronic conditions run 45–60 minutes. I take a full case history, review any relevant test reports, and explain the reasoning behind the prescription before writing it. Follow-ups are every 4–6 weeks. There are no standard protocols. Every prescription is based on your individual symptom picture.
